Setting up your first Minecraft server

Learn how to set up your first Minecraft server with OustCloud in just a few minutes.

Step 1: Choose Your Plan

Visit our billing page and select the plan that best fits your needs. For beginners, we recommend starting with our Budget plan which supports up to 20 players.

Step 2: Server Configuration

Once your order is processed, you'll receive an email with your server login details. Use these credentials to access your control panel.

Step 3: Basic Settings

  • Set your server name and description
  • Configure game mode (Survival, Creative, Adventure)
  • Set difficulty level
  • Enable/disable PvP

Step 4: Start Your Server

Click the "Start Server" button in your control panel. Your server will be ready in 30-60 seconds.

Tip: Your server IP address will be shown in the control panel. Share this with your friends to let them join your server!

Connecting to your server

Step-by-step guide to connect to your OustCloud Minecraft server.

For Java Edition

  1. Open Minecraft Java Edition
  2. Click "Multiplayer"
  3. Click "Add Server"
  4. Enter your server name and IP address
  5. Click "Done" and then "Join Server"

For Bedrock Edition

  1. Open Minecraft Bedrock Edition
  2. Go to "Play" → "Servers"
  3. Scroll down and click "Add Server"
  4. Enter server details and port number
  5. Click "Save" and join your server
Note: Make sure your server is running before attempting to connect. Check the server status in your control panel.

Dashboard Overview

Your dashboard shows key server information:

  • Server status (Online/Offline)

File Manager

Console

Managing server properties

Accessing Server Properties

Navigate to Files → server.properties in your control panel. This file contains all the main server settings.

Creating Manual Backups

  1. Go to the "Backups" section in your control panel
  2. Click "Create Backup"
  3. Enter a description for your backup
  4. Click "Start Backup Process"

Restoring from Backup

  1. Stop your server
  2. Go to "Backups" and select the backup you want to restore
  3. Click "Restore" and confirm
  4. Wait for the restoration process to complete
  5. Start your server
Warning: Restoring a backup will overwrite your current server data. Make sure to create a backup before restoring if needed.

Installing plugins (Bukkit/Spigot/Paper)

Add new features to your server with plugins using our easy one-click installer or manual installation.

Prerequisites

Your server must be running a Bukkit, Spigot, or Paper server software to use plugins.

Method 1: One-Click Plugin Installer (Recommended)

OustCloud features an automatic plugin installer that makes adding plugins incredibly easy:

  1. Go to the "Plugins" section in your control panel
  2. Browse our curated library of popular plugins
  3. Click "Install" on any plugin you want
  4. The plugin will be automatically downloaded and installed
  5. Restart your server if it didn't automatically restart

Method 2: Manual Installation (.jar files)

If you want to install a plugin not in our library, you can manually upload it:

  1. Download the plugin .jar file from a trusted source
  2. Access your server's File Manager
  3. Navigate to the "plugins" folder
  4. Upload the plugin .jar file
  5. Restart your server

Installing Forge Server

  1. Download Forge installer from the official website
  2. Upload the installer to your server
  3. Run the installer via console: java -jar forge-installer.jar --installServer
  4. Update your server startup command to use the Forge jar

Installing Mods

  1. Create a "mods" folder in your server directory
  2. Download compatible mods (.jar files)
  3. Upload mods to the mods folder
  4. Restart your server
Important: All players connecting to your server must have the same mods installed on their client.

Upgrading or downgrading your plan

Upgrading Your Plan

  1. Log in to your control panel
  2. Go to "Billing" → "Upgrade Plan"
  3. Select your new plan
  4. Pay the prorated difference
  5. Your server will be upgraded automatically

Downgrading Your Plan

  1. Contact support to request a downgrade
  2. Ensure your server data fits the new plan limits
  3. The downgrade takes effect on your next billing cycle
  4. You'll receive a prorated credit
Note: Upgrades are instant, but downgrades take effect on your next billing cycle to avoid data loss.
